Department of History
History is a branch of social sciences. It discusses history, facts, the bias of historians, science, morality, individuals and society, and moral judgements in the past. It is a field of research which uses a narrative to examine and analyze the sequence of events, and it often attempts to investigate objectively the patterns of cause and effect that determine events. Historians debate the nature of history and the lessons the history teaches. The stories common to a particular culture, but not supported by external sources are usually classified as cultural heritage rather than the ‘disinterested investigation’ needed by the discipline of history.

Department of Sociology
In the academic world, Sociology is considered one of the social sciences. It is the scientific study of society, patterns of social relationships, social interaction, and culture. The term ‘Sociology’ was first used by Frenchman Auguste Compte in the 1830s when he proposed a synthetic science uniting all knowledge about human activity.
Sociologists study all things human, from the interactions between two people to the complex relationships between nations or multinational corporations. While sociology assumes that human actions are patterned, individuals still have room for choices. Becoming aware of the social processes that influence the way humans think, feel, and behave plus having the will to act can help individuals to shape the social forces they face.
